For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

He who has the Son has life;
he who does not have the Son of God
does not have life.

Jonah 1-4; Matthew 11
2 Kings 13-14; 2 Chronicles 25; Psalm 53; Matthew 12

Amos 4-6; Psalm 55; Matthew 14
Amos 7-9; Matthew 15
The term “The Chosen One” sounds grand. It evokes imagery of favor, glory, and purpose. In Christian theology, being chosen often means being handpicked by God for a divine mission, leadership, or extraordinary destiny. But beneath the honor lies a deeply human reality — one that’s often overlooked: chosen ones suffer, especially within their own families.
In the article, “The Hidden Life of the Chosen One,” Rhodezze explores how chosen individuals are treated within family dynamics, using key biblical examples.
“Many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14

Every September, Community Cares Day brings together neighbors from across Lincoln County to do something remarkable: we spend one day helping local homeowners make their homes safer,
more accessible, and better prepared for the seasons ahead. Whether it's building a ramp, repairing steps, tackling yard work, painting, or lending a hand wherever it's needed, every volunteer helps make a real difference. Just as important, Cares Day is a chance to spend the day working alongside friends, meeting new people, learning new skills, and seeing firsthand the impact a community can have when it comes together.
Here's where you come in:
We're currently planning this year's projects. The number of volunteers who register—and the skills they bring—determines how many homeowners we'll be able to help and what kinds of projects we can take on. The sooner we know who's joining us, the better we can match volunteers with projects, assemble crews, and ensure we make the biggest possible impact. If Community Cares Day has become part of your September tradition, we hope you'll take a moment to register today. And if you've been thinking about volunteering for the first time, we'd love to have you. You don't need to be an experienced carpenter or contractor—there are meaningful roles for every skill level, and every volunteer makes a difference. If you have a friend, colleague, or family member who you think might be interested in participating, please pass this information along to them as well. Community Cares Day takes place on Saturday, September 12, and we'll provide your project assignment, crew information, lunch, and everything you'll need for a rewarding day of service. Please take a few minutes to register by going to: https://www.chipinc.org/.
The Brown Church in Round Pond offers evening vespers on Sunday nights at 7PM through the months of July and August. Marilee will be leading them on Sun, Aug. 23rd. It is a wonderful way to wrap up a summer day.
We are offering a place for anyone to take a break, get refreshments and socialize by reopening the “Open Door Cafe” on Wednesdays, from 10am-2pm. You can come and enjoy, or bring a friend, tell your neighbor. We are looking for volunteers to make a homemade treat to share. Muffins - Cookies - Brownies, or if cooking is not your thing, donate some fruits or vegetables.
